Maruti Baleno RS receives a massive INR 1 lakh price cut

Maruti Suzuki has slashed the Baleno RS' price by a massive INR 1 lakh. The sportier variant of the Baleno is now priced at INR 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) now.

The announcement came in just days after select popular Maruti Suzuki models got cheaper by INR 5,000 after the government lowered the corporate taxes on existing domestic companies from 30% to 22%. The government's effort to revise the corporate taxes are aimed in the direction to revive the growth in Asia's third-largest economy, which stumbled to a six-year low in the April-June quarter this year.

Maruti Suzuki announced the price reduction of INR 5,000 on its models in a bid to push sales in the upcoming festive season. The company said that this move will certainly help to entice entry-level customers and on the same lines. The company is also launching the entry-level micro-SUV S-Presso on the 30th of this month. Apart from this, the 2020 Vitara Brezza and a premium variant of the Wagon R are also in the pipeline.

The Maruti Baleno RS sports the 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engine imported from Japan. This turbocharged three-cylinder mill is known to generate 75 kW (101.97 PS) at 5,500 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 1,700-4,500 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The fuel economy rating of the RS variant is 21.1 km/l.
