Base Maruti Baleno Sigma variant gets a different grille design - Spied

ABS, EBD and dual front airbags are standard across the range.

GaadiWaadi has a spyshot of the base Maruti Baleno Sigma variant, which gets a different two-slat black grille. In comparison, other variants of the Baleno receive a honeycomb grille with a chrome outline.

Honeycomb grille of the Baleno added for comparison.

As can be seen, the Baleno Sigma variant, despite being a base model, offers body-colored wing mirror caps and door handles, and gets blackened pillars. However, it misses out on alloy wheels (or even wheel caps for that matter), foglights and LED daytime lights.

However, Maruti has confirmed that even the base variant of the Baleno will be equipped with ABS, EBD and dual front airbags. The petrol engine is the 1.2-liter K-Series motor developing 84.3 PS and 115 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual and CVT. The 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine produces 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque, and is available only with a 5-speed manual.

The top-end Baleno Alpha will also be equipped with Apple CarPlay.

The Baleno is based on an all-new lightweight platform, and weighs 75 kg lighter than a similarly equipped Swift. It is expected to deliver higher fuel efficiency than the Swift too, though Maruti is yet to disclose the ARAI-rated figures.
