Maruti Celerio diesel fuel efficiency at 27.62 km/l, launch in coming weeks - Report
Debuts Suzuki's first diesel engine.
Autocar India has the specifications of the soon-to-launch Maruti Celerio diesel, which will become India's most fuel efficient diesel passenger car thanks to its ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 27.62 km/l. Until now, the facelifted Maruti Dzire was the most fuel efficient car at 26.59 km/l.
As reported earlier, the major news on the Celerio diesel is that it will debut Suzuki's first self-developed diesel engine, which is a 793 cc unit, likely a two-cylinder motor. This engine will produce 47 bhp at 3,500 rpm and 12.7 kgm of torque (125 Nm of torque) at 2,000 rpm. This also explains the DDiS 125 badging seen on dealership demo cars of the Celerio diesel.
At the time of launch, the Celerio diesel will be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, but Maruti could introduce its automated manual transmission (AMT) in the future.

Spyshots have shown the Celerio DDiS 125 to come in similar variants as its petrol sibling: LDi, VDi and ZDi. The top-end variant will no doubt get dual front airbags, ABS, foglights, rear wiper and washer, a Bluetooth-enabled music system with steering mounted controls, front and rear power windows and keyless entry.
According to the report, the Celerio diesel will launch in the first week of June.
Rivals: Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Hyundai Grand i10
Expected Price: INR 4.6-5.7 Lakhs.
Tentative Launch Date: First week of June (reported)
