Spied - Maruti Celerio AMT (EZ Drive) gear stalk
As the Maruti Celerio gets closer to its debut at the Auto Expo 2014, more spy pictures surface everyday. Today, we're faced with a clear image of the Celerio's Automated Manual Transmission's gear stalk.
The Celerio's AMT has been a talking point ever since it was teased a few weeks ago. The AMT is not too dissimilar to an automatic transmission in that it still allows for the driver to choose the gears. It is more like a clutchless manual gearbox in that sense.

As seen from the image above, the Celerio's gearbox does not provide for the standard 'P' or park option that is traditionally used to lock the gear cogs in place to prevent the car from moving.
The Celerio is based on the Suzuki A:Wind concept that made its debut at the Thailand International Motor Expo last December. The Celerio is expected to replace the A-Star and compete with the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10.
The Celerio will be powered by a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder, K-Series unit that's seen in the Alto K10, A-Star and Wagon R. It will produce 68 hp at 6,200 rpm and 90 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm.
