Spied - Maruti Celerio undisguised exterior, debut at Auto Expo 2014

Ahead of its Auto Expo 2014 debut, the Maruti Celerio has been spied undisguised in Pune. The spotted car appears to be the top-end variant with chrome accents just above the headlamps (the Toyota Camry is another car we can think of with such a novelty), indicators integrated into the ORVM and a rear windshield wiper.

The Celerio's headlamps get the chrome treatment.

The Celerio is based on the Suzuki A:Wind concept, which debuted at the Thailand International Motor Expo in December last year. The A:Wind concept also marked the closing of the 'Alto' chapter for Suzuki worldwide, except in India. The Celerio will likely replace the A-Star in India as well, to compete with the Hyundai Grand i10.

The rear gets a windshield wiper, and a high-mounted stoplamp.

The concept A:Wind measured 3,600 mm in length, 1,600 mm in width and 1,540 mm in height, with a wheelbase spanning 2,425 mm. Expect the Celerio to retain the same or similar dimensions.

It will be driven by the 1.0-liter, three-cylinder, K-Series unit as seen in the Alto K10, A-Star and Wagon R. It will produce 68 hp at 6,200 rpm and 90 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm.

The Celerio will carry two transmission options with the five-speed manual coming standard and an all-new automatic manual gearbox strapped on to higher trims. The gearbox is "EZ Drive" in Maruti speak.

The Celerio is based on the Suzuki A:Wind concept.

The Celerio has been spied previously, with both the interiors and exterior caught on camera well ahead of the launch.
