The exterior and interior of the Ciaz SHVS look identical to the outgoing model. The only difference is seen under the hood, where it features a brake energy recuperation system with an Integrated Starter Generator, which converts the kinetic energy of the rolling wheels into current for charging up the battery. It also gets a start-stop system to boost mileage while stationary.

It is powered by the same 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine sourced from the regular diesel variant, and is paired to 5-speed manual gearbox. The Maruti Ciaz SHVS is expected to cross the 30 km/L mark, besting the ARAI-certified 26.2 km/l of the outgoing model.

According to previous spyshots, no changes have been reported inside as well. The MY2016 Maruti Ciaz will feature dual airbags as standard across the range.
