IAB Report - Maruti Ciaz gets 10,000 bookings

Pre-launch bookings started on September 3. 

Maruti-Suzuki, India's largest carmaker, has so far received over 10,000 bookings for the Ciaz which went on sale today. Dealers of Maruti started accepting orders for the mid-size sedan since September 3. In the first year, the company aims to sell about 60,000 to 80,000 units of the Honda City rival, averaging monthly sales of the 5,000 - 6,666 units per month.

The Ciaz was launched today with prices starting at INR 6.99 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.

The Ciaz is made at Maruti's factory in Manesar, Haryana. It is available with a petrol and diesel engine option, carried over from the Ertiga MPV. The 1.4-liter K-Series petrol is good for 92.45 PS (91.14 bhp) and 130 Nm of torque, and is paired to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The diesel uses the 1.3-liter Fiat-sourced Multijet engine to develop 90 PS (88.73 bhp) and 200 Nm of torque. Mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, the diesel Ciaz delivers a class-leading 26.21 km/l, making it India's most fuel efficient car.

The Ciaz gets projector headlights as standard fitment.

The Ciaz will target executives in the age range of 30-40 years, and the company plans on using innovative online and offline marketing campaigns for the car.
