Could boost mileage close to 30 km/l.

According to a new posting by Gaadiwaadi, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch an improved mild-hybrid variant of the Maruti Ciaz which has sold over 50,000 units since the launch in January.

The 'SVHS' system would use a brake energy recuperation system to charge the batteries, and a start-stop motor.

From the graphic posted on Gaadiwaadi, the car will receive the 'SVHS' (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Maruti Suzuki') technology.  The setup will combine brake energy regeneration through an Integrated Starter Generator, which converts the kinetic energy of the rolling wheels into electricity that is stored in the battery, along with a start-stop system, to boost mileage. The 'Smart Hybrid Engine' technology would be available only on the diesel engine, most likely the same 1.3-liter Fiat Multijet engine.

The alleged official document also reveals that a driver airbag would be a standard fitment on all Ciaz variants. A V(O) variant, in petrol and diesel, would also come with ABS and EBD, the latter being another new feature.

A driver airbag will be a standard feature on all Maruti Ciaz variants, says the document.

The 'Blue Technology' is set to raise the Ciaz's industry-leading ARAI-certified 26.2 km/l close to 30 km/l. Maruti currently sells the Ciaz via NEXA outlets and could pitch the Ciaz SHVS as an environment-friendly variant.
