Maruti Ciaz Old Vs New - Comparison of Exterior, Interior & Specifications
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) yesterday launched the mid-cycle change for the Ciaz C2-segment sedan. Prices of the Ciaz see an increment of up to Rs 64,523 for the petrol engine variant and a reduction of up to Rs 54,086 for the diesel engine variant.
The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz (facelift) features several updates for its exterior and interior and also gets a new 1.5-litre petrol engine. Here's a comparison of the new Maruti Ciaz with the old version -
Exterior:
The exterior of the 2018 Maruti Ciaz gets a plethora of changes, especially at the front. The latest version comes with a new grille and a sportier bumper that carries chrome embellishments. Also, the headlamps now offer a LED projector setup along with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs).
The side profile remains mostly the same. The only change here is the introduction of new two-tone 16-inch alloy wheels for the top-of-the-line Alpha trim. Also, with the advent of the 2018 Maruti Ciaz, MSIL now offers 15-inch alloy wheels on Zeta and Delta trims. At the rear, the 2018 Ciaz gets chrome trim for the bumper and LED tail lights.
Interior:
While the interior doesn't get as many styling updates as the exterior, it offers many new features. The dark faux wood trim has made way for a lighter-coloured one. Also, the car gets a revised instrument console that features a coloured Multi-Information Display (MID). The new instrument console features blue lit needles and 'Smart Hybrid' branding. The cabin also gets an upholstery change, and rear adjustable headrests.
Other than the handful of visual updates, the interior of the 2018 Maruti Ciaz (facelift) offers additional features. Seatbelt reminder, which was earlier available only for the driver's seat, is now also available for the passenger seat. The car even gets Cruise Control. Also, the automatic variants get a traction control system along with a hill-hold assist. Plus, all the trims get a Speed Alert System that works by sounding two beeps every minute at speeds higher than 80 kmph but below 120 kmph. Above 120 kmph, the system sounds a continuous beep. This is to remind the driver to adhere to the speed limits.
Specifications:
The 2018 Maruti Ciaz (facelift) not only gets several styling updates but also comes with an all-new petrol engine. The 1.4-litre, four-cylinder unit of the pre-facelift Ciaz has made way for a new 1.5-litre unit. The new motor outputs a maximum power of 103.5 bhp along with a peak torque of 138 Nm. Akin to the earlier motor, the new engine gets two transmission options - 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. Also, the 2018 Maruti Ciaz becomes the first-ever petrol-powered model to get the SHVS mild-hybrid technology. The petrol engine variant of the new Ciaz offers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 21.56 kmpl for the manual transmission variant. The petrol automatic variant has a fuel efficiency of 20.28 kmpl.
