Maruti Ciaz SHVS (Hybrid) to launch in mid-August - Report
SHVS technology was showcased at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
Maruti Suzuki will launch the Maruti Ciaz hybrid post the Independence Day weekend, says a report on CarWale.
The CarWale report says the Ciaz hybrid replaces the diesel variant, and dealers have been discounting INR 25,000 to clear old stocks. Maruti has not confirmed the launch date.
The Ciaz SVHS will continue using the 1.3-liter Multijet engine (1.3 DDiS), and the powertrain will be extended with a lithium ion battery pack that will be charged with a regenerative brake. The battery would provide the supply for the idle start stop system and assist the crank to develop extra torque, says the report. The fuel efficiency of the Ciaz, thanks to less load on the engine, could rise to about 28 km/l from the 26.2 km/l.
The Ciaz SHVS is also getting a few cosmetic changes, and Carwale expects a price increase of INR 75,000 (base version) to INR 1.2 lakh (top-end) over than equivalent variant price of the current Ciaz. The sedan would be sold through the NEXA outlets.
