Maruti Ciaz SHVS to be launched on September 1 - IAB Report
Ciaz will improve its fuel efficiency lead over competitors.
Maruti Suzuki will officially launch the hybrid version of the Maruti Ciaz sedan on September 1. However, instead of adding to the company's portfolio, the diesel hybrid sedan will reportedly replace the diesel version currently on sale.
The Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System (SVHS) will feature a brake energy recovery system that will harness the energy from the car during braking to charge up a battery. The sedan is also expected to receive start/stop application to boost its mileage.
Since the vehicle falls under the government of India's FAME programme (Faster Adoption and Manufacture of hybrid and Electric vehicles programme), the final price will be set after a cut of INR 1 lakh. The diesel hybrid system, sourced from Suzuki, is likely to find its way into most of the company's diesel vehicles henceforth, with the Ertiga and Swift reported as the next beneficiaries.
As per earlier reports, the Maruti Ciaz SHVS is expected to be available in three trim levels - VDi, ZDi, and ZDi+. Bookings are open for the car at a price of INR 11,000.
