IAB Report - Maruti Ciaz diesel is the most fuel efficient Indian car at 26.21 km/l

It seems that the Honda City's claim of being the most fuel efficient Indian car will not hold good anymore. The upcoming Maruti Ciaz diesel will better the City diesel's 26 km/l by 0.21 km/l at 26.21 km/l Indian Autos Blog has come to know. Maruti engineers have tuned the 1.3-liter Fiat-sourced Multijet motor to make 90 PS (88.73 bhp) at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm.

Meanwhile, the petrol Ciaz which makes use of the 1.4-liter K-Series engine develops 92.45 PS (91.14 bhp) at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The Ciaz petrol also delivers a class leading 20.73 km/l as compared to the City's 18 km/l. While the petrol will get a 4-speed automatic as an option, standard gearboxes on both engines are 5-speed manuals.

The Ciaz will measure 4,490 mm in length, 1,730 mm in width, 1,485 mm in height and 2,650 mm in wheelbase. The ground clearance is 170 mm and the boot capacity is 510 liters. The petrol car weighs 1,010 kg and the diesel 1,105 kg.

At 4,490 mm, the Ciaz is also longer than the City.

The Ciaz launches in India in the coming weeks and Maruti has already started production of the car at its Manesar plant.
