The BS-VI upgrade is the reason why the petrol engine model has seen a bigger price hike.

Maruti Suzuki has added a seat belt reminder for the front passenger and a speed-alert system to the Dzire's safety suite now. Both the new features are standard. Moreover, the company has made rear parking sensors standard. Driver seat belt reminder, ABS and dual airbags were already a standard fitment. With the new standard safety suite, the sub-compact sedan is now finally compliant with the AIS-145 safety norms which come into effect on 1 July 2019.

The Maruti Dzire is available with the K12M 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 61 kW (82.94 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm as well as the D13A 1.3-litre diesel engine that develops 55 kW (74.78 PS) at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual are the transmission choices. Irrespective of the transmission selected, the fuel economy rating is 22.0 km/l (petrol)/28.4 km/l (diesel).

The petrol engine has been upgraded to conform to BS-VI emission norms now. The BS-VI upgrade is the reason why the petrol engine model has seen a bigger price hike. The diesel engine will be discontinued by March 2020.
