Maruti Ignis reportedly getting AMT in petrol and diesel

To launch in the festive season this year.

According to Motor Trend India, the upcoming Maruti Ignis will get an AGS (AMT) option in both petrol and diesel variants when it launches later this year.

MT India believes that the introduction of an AMT will help Maruti undercut the prices of the Ignis's closest rival, the Mahindra KUV100.

This contradicts various reports claiming that the Ignis will only be available with a CVT in the petrol variant. The report states that Maruti will introduce the 5-speed AGS in the 1.2L K-Series petrol variant and the 1.3L DDiS turbodiesel engine. The latter could share a setup similar to the Swift Dzire AMT variant.

MT India believes that the introduction of an AMT will help Maruti undercut the prices of the Ignis's closest rival, the Mahindra KUV100. An AMT option will also lower the price difference between it and its respective MT variant, making the AMT-equipped Ignis more appealing.

The Maruti Ignis diesel variant could share a setup similar to the Swift Dzire AMT variant.

Prices for the Maruti Ignis could hover between INR 4.8 lakhs - 7 lakhs (depending on the trim and engine option) and will be sold through Maruti’s premium line of NEXA dealerships.
