Mid-spec Maruti Ignis shows its interior in new spyshot
Reported to launch in November.
In the spyshot below, snapped by Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Rishabh Dang, the interior of what appears to be a mid-variant of the Maruti Ignis is seen. The reasoning behind calling this a mid-variant is because of the presence of a 2-DIN music system with physical controls and buttons; the top-end Ignis is expected to feature a fully-touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system.
The range-topping variant of the Ignis is also expected with features such as 15- or 16-inch alloy wheels, projector headlights with LED DRL, automatic climate control, steering mounted controls, reverse camera, and a digital MID.
For the Indian market, Maruti is expected to offer the Ignis with the 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine. Aside from a 5-speed manual gearbox, reports state that both engine variants could get the AGS (automated manual transmission). Also, while the Ignis is available with an optional 4WD system in its launch market in Japan, it will sport a front-wheel drive only setup in India.

The Japanese-market model measures 3,700 mm in length, 1,690 mm in width, 1,595 mm in height, 2,435 mm in wheelbase and 180 mm in ground clearance. When launched in India, the Mahindra KUV100 will be the closest rival for the Ignis. The Maruti Ignis will be retailed through the company's NEXA outlets which currently sell the Maruti Baleno and S-Cross.
