Maruti Ignis sales reach 10,000 units - Report

About 12,000 orders still pending.

The Maruti Ignis was launched in India in January as the third model exclusive to the NEXA dealerships. According to a new report from Economic Times, the Maruti Ignis' cumulative sales has reached 10,000 units.

Maruti Suzuki is manufacturing 4,500-5,000 units of the Maruti Ignis per month in Gurgaon, Haryana. Randhir Singh Kalsi, Executive Director, Maruti Suzuki, revealed at the Maruti Baleno RS' launch that the hatchback has a waiting period of 2-3 months currently. The initial demand for the Ignis is high but not as high as it was for the Baleno which had received over 40,000 bookings within just over a month from launch. The company reportedly plans to regain 50% market share with the mini crossover.

The Maruti Ignis is available in four trim levels: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. LED projector headlamps with daytime running lights, 15-inch black alloy wheels, fender arch moulding, puddle lamps, two-tone dashboard, 7-inch SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink, push start and remote keyless entry, power adjustable and folding door mirrors, dual front airbags and ABS with EBD are some of the car's key features.

Maruti Suzuki offers two engine options for the Maruti Ignis: 61 kW (81.77 hp) 1.2-litre VVT four-cylinder petrol and 55.2 kW (73.99 hp) 1.3-litre DDiS four-cylinder diesel. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard, but the Delta and Zeta trim levels do have an AMT option. The Maruti Ignis range starts at INR 4,59,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
