India-spec Maruti S-Cross with 1.6L diesel engine, chrome grille leaked - Spied
Ditches the 'SX4' name for the Indian market.
Seen here are images of the India-spec Maruti S-Cross at the IIFA Awards Ceremony. Maruti, one of the sponsors of the awards night, will showcase the S-Cross at the event on June 7, 2015, while an Indian market launch will take place sometime next month.
The spyshots confirm that the crossover will be badged 'S-Cross' for India. They also show a '1.6' badge on the bootlid, and an all-new dual-slat chrome grille, the latter is unseen on the international variant of the S-Cross.
Likely the top-end variant, the Maruti S-Cross sports projector headlights and integrated LED daytime running lights, front, rear and side scuff plates and 16-inch alloy wheels. The 1.6 badge on the bootlid refers to the 1.6-liter diesel engine (note the DDiS badge on the right side fender) which is reported to produce 120 PS on the crossover. According to reports, the S-Cross will also be available with a 1.3-liter Fiat-sourced MultiJet diesel engine capable of 90 PS.
The S-Cross marks Maruti's entry into the crossover segment, and will be pitted against the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and the upcoming Hyundai Creta. Maruti plans on selling the S-Cross through its premium range of 'Nixa' dealerships, which presently sells only the Ciaz sedan.
