Spied - Maruti S-Cross spotted on test in NCR, to get petrol and diesel engines

Maruti's Renault Duster rival launching early next year.

The Maruti SX4 S-Cross was spotted on tests yet again in the NCR region by Gaadi Waadi. Showcased at the Auto Expo this year, the S-Cross is reported to launch in India in the early part of next year.

The S-Cross will get power from a 1.6-liter diesel engine, apart from a petrol.

The compact crossover is set to compete with the likes of the Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano. Measuring 4,300 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, 1,575 mm in height and 2,600 mm in wheelbase, the S-Cross will not be contending in the sub-4 meter segment.

Power for the crossover will come from petrol and diesel engines, with a CNG option also in contention. The diesel engine could either be from Fiat or Peugeot.

It remains to be seen if Maruti offers 4WD as well on the S-Cross.

The S-Cross will be joined in 2016 by another compact SUV from Maruti. The second SUV however, is reported to be a sub-4 meter product that will compete with the Ford EcoSport. The mini SUV could take styling inspiration from the XA-Alpha Concept.
