Production-ready Maruti S-Cross snapped ahead of launch - Spied
Expected to come only with a 1.6L diesel engine.
MotorTrend India has posted these spyshots of a production-ready Maruti S-Cross, ahead of a launch expected to take place towards the end of July or in early-August. The badge on the bootlid reveals this S-Cross to be a 'Z' variant, and the 'ABS' sticker on the rear windshield confirms the safety feature as well.
However, towards the front, the S-Cross seen here sports regular halogen headlights, and not the projector headlights seen on the car unveiled at the IIFA ceremony. It does get the dual-slat chrome grille (exclusive to the Indian model), foglights and skid guards all around though.
According to reports, the S-Cross for India will launch only with a 1.6-liter DDiS diesel engine. The engine in question is the Fiat-sourced MultiJet unit, which powers the S-Cross in European markets as well. Capable of 120 PS and 320 Nm of torque, this engine is likely to be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission with the drive going to the front wheels only. An AllGrip AWD model will not be offered for the Indian market.

Dual-zone climate control, cruise control, Maruti's SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, rear AC vents and steering mounted audio controls are some of the features that will be seen on the model.
