Maruti S-Cross variants and features detailed, comes with 2 diesel engines - Report

Will be available in 8 variants, but no petrol engine offered.

Maruti has unveiled the S-Cross at the media drive program which began today, and have revealed the variants as well as the features offered in each variant. The Hyundai Creta rival will come with a choice between two diesel engines across 8 different variants.

The S-Cross is the first Maruti to feature the 320 DDiS 1.6-litre diesel engine.

The less-powerful S-Cross 200 DDiS engine packs the 1.3-litre diesel engine, which produces 89 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. This engine will power four variants: 1.3L Sigma, 1.3L Sigma (O), 1.3L Delta, 1.3L Zeta and 1.3L Alpha.

The S-Cross is the first Maruti to feature the 320 DDiS 1.6-litre diesel engine fitted with a variable geometry turbocharger and delivering 118bhp/320Nm of torque.

The base variant of the S-Cross gets driver airbag, while all other variants get dual front airbags and ABS.

The new diesel motor will be available in the 1.6L Delta, 1.6L Zeta & 1.6L Alpha variants.

The Maruti S-Cross measures 4,300 mm long, 1,765 mm wide, 1,590 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. To tackle Indian road conditions, the ground clearance is rated at 180 mm (unladen). Standard noteworthy features in the two Sigma variants include dual airbags, all-wheel disc brakes with ABS. Below is the best of the features on each variant. The first crossover from Maruti will compete against the Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.

S-Cross 1.3L Sigma and Sigma(O): Dual airbags, all-wheel disc brakes with ABS in the latter, 4 speakers, body colored door handles, silver skid plates, steel rims and fabric upholstery.

S-Cross 1.3L Delta and 1.6L Delta: Anti theft security system, reverse parking sensor with display, Audio with CD player, steering-mounted controls, Bluetooth connectivity, black roof rails (silver in the 1.6L Delta), full wheel caps and door chrome handles.

S-Cross 1.3L Zeta and 1.6L Zeta: Electric folding ORVMs, Automatic Climate control, rear center armrest, parcel tray, Smartplay infotainment system and push-button start/stop (1.3L only).

S-Cross 1.3L Alpha and 1.6L Alpha: Cruise Control, Rain-sensing wipers, automatic projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels and leather upholstery.

Following its expected launch by the end of July, the Maruti S-Cross will be sold exclusively at the company's premium NEXA dealerships, alongside the Maruti Ciaz.
