Maruti S-Presso leaked in all its glory ahead of launch this month

The Maruti S-Presso's exterior has leaked online ahead of its launch on the 30th of this month. This is the production version of the Maruti Concept Future-S from Auto Expo 2018.

The Maruti S-Presso will run on a BS-VI compliant version of the K10B 1.0-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol powerhouse.

As expected, the Maruti S-Presso carries forward the upright stance from the funky Maruti Concept Future-S. But apart from that, there is nothing much which remains common with the concept. It gets a high-raised squared-off front fascia with boxy headlamps which merges into the front grille. It also features LED DRLs which have been placed below the headlamps. Its grille gets the same chrome dipped angular design elements as found on the Vitara Brezza. While on the lower-end there is a fully blacked-out bumper which adds ruggedness to the overall design.

Other notable design cues which have carried over from the S-Presso include its flared wheel arches, a blacked-out B-pillar and brawny haunches. Apart from that, it gets noticeable bits like flap-type door handles, front fender-mounted turn indicators and steel wheels with covers. The side profile of the S-Presso remains largely clean. The rear-end and interior details still remain under covers.

Maruti Suzuki's SUV-styled hatchback measures 3,565 mm in length, 1,520 mm in width and 1,564 mm in height. In comparison to the Renault Kwid, it stands 114 mm shorter, 59 mm narrower and 86 mm taller. It has a 42 mm shorter wheelbase which measures 2,380 mm. The new car makes use of 14-inch wheels wrapped in 165/70-section rubbers.

Under the hood, Maruti S-Presso will have a BS-VI compliant version of the K10B 1.0-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol powerhouse which produces 50 kW (67.98 PS) of maximum power at 5,500 rpm and 90 Nm of peak torque at 3,500 rpm in its current, BS-IV version. The engine will be offered with 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual gearbox options. The company also plans to introduce a CNG powered S-Presso in the later stage.
