Maruti Stingray launched at Rs. 4.09 lakhs [Gallery Update]

The Maruti Stingray (there is no 'Wagon R' prefix in the official material), a sportier iteration of the venerable Wagon R, has been launched in India at Rs. 4.09 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Stingray gets a complete new front fascia thanks to the projector headlights, reflector grille and a huge secondary air dam. In other words, the Stingray looks nothing like the normal Wagon R when viewed head on. Other visual improvements include side skirts, blacked out B-Pillar, alloy wheels with gun metal finish, chrome plated taillights and chrome garnish above the rear license plate with "Stingray" embossed on it.

The all-black interior features Stingray themed seats, leather wrapped steering wheel with audio controls (optional in VXi). The cabin has quite a few chrome accents and the instrument console is backlit in blue. Other features are an audio system (supports USB and Aux-in) with illuminated buttons, multi-information display with distance to empty, and instant and average fuel economy indicators.

The car comes with front (with auto down function) and rear power windows, tilt adjustable steering and electrically adjustable wing mirrors. The rear seats can be split in 60:40 ratio.

Powering the Stingray will be the same 1.0 litre K-Series three cylinder petrol motor that is good for 68PS and 90 Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox transmits the power to the front wheels. The ARAI certified mileage stands at 20.51kpl.

The Maruti Stingray is available in two variants - LXi and VXi. The VXi is available with optional driver airbag and ABS. The tall boy is launched in five exterior color options - Midnight Blue, Passion Red, Glistening Grey, Superior White, Silky Silver.

Prices of Maruti Stingray (ex-showroom Delhi)

  • Maruti Stingray LXi - Rs. 4.09 lakhs
  • Maruti Stingray VXi - Rs. 4.38 lakhs
  • Maruti Stingray VXi (O)- Rs. 4.67 lakhs
