The main highlight at the stand of CG Motorcorp (authorized distributors of Maruti Suzuki in Nepal) at the 2015 NADA Auto Show is the India-made Maruti Suzuki S-Cross crossover. It was launched in the mountain nation at prices ranging from NPR 5.59 million to NPR 6.19 million (INR 34.8 lakhs - INR 38.55 lakhs) with a choice between two diesel engines across 7 different trims.

The entry-level motor is a 1.3-litre diesel unit (dubbed as the DDiS 200), which produces 89 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. In India, the ARAI-certified fuel consumption is 23.65 km/l, making it the most fuel-efficient variant in the range.

The S-Cross is the first Maruti Suzuki product to pack a 1.6-litre DDiS 320 diesel engine with a variable geometry turbocharger. It is capable of 120 PS and 320 Nm of torque, and is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The ARAI-certified fuel consumption in India is rated at 22.7 km/l.

As for equipment, higher variants of the Nepalese Maruti Suzuki S-Cross feature Electric folding ORVMs, Automatic Climate control, rear center armrest, parcel tray, Smartplay infotainment system and push-button start/stop, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, automatic projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels and leather upholstery.

It is also one of the safest offerings of Maruti Suzuki, as all 7 variants come with disc brakes supplemented by ABS at all four wheels, and dual airbags as standard.
