Maruti Swift RS launched to start the nameplate's local sales countdown to 1 million units
Maruti Suzuki has introduced a sporty version of the Swift dubbed Maruti Swift RS. Maruti has sold over 9.6 lakh copies of the car in India and this special edition is to begin celebrations of the impending 1 millionth unit retail which should happen in time for the festival season.
The Maruti Swift RS sports aesthetic changes such as a three-piece body kit that enriches the front and rear bumper. The third component is the roof spoiler. Maruti markets the creation as one that bears the theme of motorsport. The wheel covers are painted in black and the side mirrors are in blue. An illuminated Swift emblem is present on the door sills and RS badges are dispersed on the body work.
The interior is done up using leather in the same black and blue color combination. RS signatures also feature in the cabin, the floor mats are bitten by the rally theme and the music system is able to read tracks from a CD, AUX device and a USB stick.
On the introduction of Swift RS, Mr Manohar Bhat Vice President (Marketing) Maruti Suzuki India comments -
The Swift RS is in continuation of Maruti Suzuki’s celebrations planned around Swift model as it moves towards the “1 million” cumulative sales mark. Swift not only pioneered premium compact segment in the country, it continues to remain the no. 1 selling car in the segment. Swift has cumulatively sold over 9.6 lakh units since its launch in May 2005. We are confident that limited edition Swift RS will be ideal for customers who look to further enhance the sporty character and style of the Swift. All this comes with a much higher value worth than the price customer pays for Swift RS package.
The Swift RS enhancement package is priced at Rs. 24,500 and will be available in VXi (Petrol) and VDi (Diesel) variants from this month for a limited period.
