Maruti Vitara Brezza to have 98% localization, launch towards end-March - Report

Reported to come in 6 variants.

Maruti's next major launch, the Maruti Vitara Brezza, will have its launch towards the end of March 2016, a report on the Economic Times confirms. The compact SUV will initially be available with the DDiS 200 diesel engine, though a petrol variant is planned for a later stage.

The Vitara Brezza is the first Maruti product to have been completely designed and developed by Maruti in India. The development cost of the project (codename YBA) was INR 860 Crore, and when launched, the Ford EcoSport-rival will have a localization level of 98 percent. Apart from the domestic market, Maruti also plans on exporting the Vitara Brezza to markets in Africa, Middle East and Latin America.

Maruti confirmed during the world premiere of the Vitara Brezza, which took place at the Auto Expo 2016, that the 1.3-liter four-cylinder DDiS engine will power the car in the 90 PS/200 Nm state. Six variants of the Vitara Brezza will reportedly launch with a driver airbag being standard across the range.

The top-end Maruti Vitara Brezza will get projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, contrast roof color, cruise control, dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, front center armrest, a touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system with reverse camera and navigation.
