Maruti Vitara Brezza automatic could use CVT in petrol & AMT in diesel - Report

Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol or diesel automatic launch this festive season
MSIL is reportedly gearing up to launch a petrol CVT or diesel AMT variant of the Vitara Brezza this festive season.

The report cites a source close to the company claiming the advent of the Tata Nexon has prompted MSIL to evaluate the launch of new variants to maintain the buzz around the Vitara Brezza. The report adds that the waiting period for the Maruti Vitara Brezza has come down from 4-5 months to just 15 days. MSIL, according to the report, has increased production of the Vitara Brezza following the commissioning of Suzuki's Gujarat plant, which explains the drop in waiting.

The report claims that the diesel automatic variants will get a 5-speed AMT. A petrol automatic with a CVT is also on the cards. However, it may be noted that MSIL currently does not offer the Vitara Brezza with a petrol engine. Rumours surrounding the launch of Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol have been doing the rounds since the launch. The compact SUV is reported to receive either the 1.0 L Boosterjet engine from the Baleno RS or the Ciaz's 1.4 L K14 engine. Only the former would qualify it for the lower excise.
