Maruti Vitara Brezza clocks 4 lakh cumulative sales
The cumulative sales of the Maruti Vitara Brezza have touched 4 lakh units. It took less than three years for the sub-compact SUV to reach this milestone, and that’s a record for its segment.
After unveiling the Vitara Brezza at Auto Expo 2016, Maruti Suzuki had launched it in India in March 2016. By the end of the calendar year, sales had reached nearly 83,000 units, and just days before it celebrated its first anniversary, the counter had touched 1,00,000.
In May last year, Maruti Suzuki gave the Vitara Brezza a soft cosmetic refresh and announced that the cumulative sales stood at 2.75 lakh units. In July, the small SUV had achieved the fastest 3-lakh sales mark in the SUV segment in 28 months. In November, when the number was at over 3.57 lakh, the company announced that to reduce the waiting period, it had ramped up the production by 10%, to 94,000 units during April-Oct 2018-19.
Currently, the Maruti Vitara Brezza holds a 44.1% market share in its segment. On average, 14,675 units are sold every month. About 20% of the orders are specified with AGS, the company’s (5-speed) automated manual transmission. Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300, and Tata Nexon are the close competitors of this sub-4 metre SUV.
