The Maruti Vitara Brezza, when launched next month, will primarily rival the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300. On the dimension front, while the Vitara Brezza is shortest in overall length and wheelbase, it manages to outsize the Creta and S-Cross in terms of width and height. The Duster continues to be the largest compact SUV in every dimension. The Vitara Brezza will primarily have the Mahindra TUV300 and Ford EcoSport in its crosshair.

Coming to the powertrain, the S-Cross and Vitara Brezza are powered by the same 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine in the same state of tune: 90 PS and 200 Nm. Maruti has not released the kerb weight of the Vitara Brezza, but on the S-Cross, this engine delivers 74.68 PS/tonne and 23.65 km/l, the highest in segment.

The Creta's 1.4-liter CRDi motor delivers 90 PS and 220 Nm, but with a 6-speed gearbox and returns 21.38 km/l, whereas the Duster's 1.5-liter K9K dCi unit produces 85 PS and 200 Nm while returning 20.45 km/l.

Finally, coming to price, the Creta and Duster are priced within INR 30,000-70,000 from each other, whereas the S-Cross, post its recent price cut, costs between INR 7.79-10.29 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
