Maruti Vitara Brezza to launch in March 2016 - Report
Will borrow its engines from the Swift.
According to a report on the Times of India, the market launch of the Maruti Vitara Brezza will take place around March 2016. The compact SUV will have its premiere at the Auto Expo 2016, which starts for the media on February 3, 2016.
The Vitara Brezza is the first Maruti product to have been developed and engineered completely in India. The development work on the Ford EcoSport-rival started in mid-2011, Mr. CV Raman, executive director, Engineering, Maruti Suzuki stated in a recent interview. However, the investment in the project (codenamed Maruti YBA) was not disclosed.
At the heart of the Maruti Vitara Brezza will be the 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine and 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine, which also do duty on the Maruti Swift and Maruti Swift Dzire. The latter is expected with the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) micro-hybrid technology. While both engines will be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, the petrol is also expected with a CVT.
