Currently, the Vitara Brezza is only available with a 1.3L DDiS diesel engine paired to a 5-speed MT.

The engine under the hood is likely to be the 1.0L three cylinder Boosterjet unit that will debut in India under the hood of the Maruti Baleno RS later this year. It could output around 110 PS and 170 Nm of torque, and would be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, although its unclear if an automatic option will make the cut.

Otherwise, everything else is likely to be identical the diesel-powered Brezza currently sold. It could be sold in three grades: LXI, VXI and ZXI, which shares its feature list with the respective diesel-powered variants.

The introduction of a petrol variant comes at a time when the price gap between petrol and diesel fuels is narrow as well as the crackdown on diesel-powered cars by the NGT. Currently, the only sub-4m SUV that offers petrol engines is the Ford EcoSport.
