Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol production commences - Report

It is widely known that Maruti Suzuki is working on a Vitara Brezza petrol that will carry the torch forward from the Vitara Brezza diesel that is bound to go off the charts in March 2020. Now, as per a new GaadiWaadi report, the company has commenced the production of the Vitara Brezza petrol.

With the facelift, the Maruti Vitara Brezza is expected to receive new design and feature updates which will keep the package relevant amid the growing competition.

The Vitara Brezza petrol has been even spotted getting tested on the public roads in the past, and is expected to make its official debut in early 2020, possibly in March. The engine in question is the same K15 1.5-litre SHVS four-cylinder engine which was seen for the first time in Ciaz and is also found on the Ertiga. This engine is capable of delivering 104.7 PS of maximum power and 138 Nm of peak torque.

While the Vitara Brezza has arguably been the most famous offering in its segment, the lack of petrol options has certainly affected its sales figures which could have scaled even greater heights given the presence of petrol variants. The SUV used to garner around strong 10,000 units sales per month, despite the lack of petrol option.

Apart from the new petrol engine, the Vitara Brezza will gain much-needed design tweaks keeping the overall package competitive and fresh looking. With the mid-cycle update, it will gain a restyled bumper which packs new housing for the rounder fog lamps. The projector headlamps will now feature LED DRLs, while the front grille could have a slightly tweaked design. At the rear, the previous seen LED tail lamps, high-set stop lamps, and chrome boot applique will be carried-on in the facelifted model. Overall, the exterior boxy shape of the Vitara Brezza will remain unaltered.

The 2020 Maruti Vitara Brezza (facelift) is expected to be powered by the same K15 1.5-litre SHVS four-cylinder engine which made its debut in Ciaz and is also found in the Ertiga.
