Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol to be launched in August - Report
The Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol was earlier said to arrive in the festive season of 2019. Now, a new report suggests that it will be launched in August this year.
Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that its plans to take down diesel engines by March 2020. Diesel configurations alone contribute to around 30% sales for Maruti Suzuki and the Vitara Brezza bestows a major chunk in this number. Discontinuation of diesel engines will be a major setback, especially in the case of the Vitara Brezza which is currently available in only diesel and is the best-selling SUV in India. The launch of the Vitara Brezza petrol will not only make a base for the SUV for post-March-2020 but also boost the sales till the diesel engine continues being offered.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol will deploy the K15B 1.5-litre VVT naturally aspirated four-cylinder unit which churns out 77 kW (104.69 PS) and 138 Nm of torque. It will also feature the dual-battery Progressive Smart Hybrid mild-hybrid system. The transmission duties will be done by a 5-speed manual gearbox, while an optional 4-speed automatic transmission will likely be introduced at a later stage.
Initially, the company was contemplating offering the K10C 1.0-litre BoosterJet petrol engine that delivers 75 kW (101.97 PS) and 150 Nm of torque. However, it wasn't feasible because of the higher costs involved. Also, the fuel economy delivered by this engine won't meet the expectations of customers in our market.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza is priced from INR 7.68-10.65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The introduction of a petrol engine will lower the entry-price.
