Maruti Vitara Brezza wins National Super League Rally Championship

Vitara Brezza secured first two positions.

The first round of the Maruti Suzuki National Super League Rally Championship that ended in Dehradun today witnessed Karthick Maruthi and his co-driver S.Shankar Anand emerging as the winners along with their yellow-and-white Maruti Vitara Brezza.

The Uttarakhand Adventure rally marks the debut of the Vitara Brezza in the world of motorsports.

The second position was claimed by Jagmeet Gilla and his co-driver Chandan Sen who were also driving a Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The S-Cross driven by Sachin Singh and his co-driver M Prakash finished third.

The Uttarakhand rally of this year had around 54 contestants all of whom successfully completed the rally covering a distance of 900 km in three days. The competition was in TSD (Time Speed and Distance) format with the last phase being the Corbett - Auli - Dehradun.

The first, second and third cash prizes were INR 5 lakhs, INR 3 lakhs and INR 2 lakhs respectively.

The trophies were handed to the winners by Vinay Pant, Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s General Manager of Marketing, and Shailesh Bagauli, Uttarakhand Secretary Tourism. The winning teams received INR 5 lakhs, INR 3 lakhs and INR 2 lakhs cash prize for first, second and third place respectively apart from the trophies. A cash prize of INR 1 lakh was awarded to the best performing women’s team.
