Spied - Maruti Y9T LCV (Tata Ace rival) surfaces without camouflage

After the previous spyshots of the body shell revealed the design of Maruti Y9T, the company's first stab at the LCV segment, an undisguised test mule has been caught testing by Gaadiwaadi.com.

The Maruti Y9T LCV would rival the Tata Ace and the Mahindra Maxximo.

The Suzuki Y9T is nothing but a modernized and localized old Suzuki Futura pickup.

The upcoming LCV would debut Maruti's first homegrown diesel engine which is a 800 cc two cylinder unit. The punitive oil burner would go on to power the automaker's small cars like the Celerio, suggest media reports. In addition to the diesel engine, the cargo carrier would also be offered with a CNG engine.

The Maruti Y9T was said to be based on the Suzuki Carry LCV that is available in the Japanese market but spyshots suggest that it is a localized version of the old JDM Suzuki Futura pickup.

The size of the loading bay is comparable to that of its rivals.

The size of the loading bay is in the ballpark of its rivals, the Tata Ace and the Mahindra Maxximo, meaning the payload capacity would be 700 kg - 850 kg. The wheels seem to be 12-inchers and the rear suspension is adopts a leaf springs setup which is a norm in its segment.

The Y9T is expected to be launched early next year.
