Maserati upgrades engines to Euro VI - 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show Live

Maserati has unveiled a set of new features for the Model Year 16 at the ongoing 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. This is in anticipation, the company says, of the Levante SUV scheduled for 2016.

First up, the company has completely revamped its engine offerings for the Quattroporte and Ghibli. taking its V6 twin turbo and V8 twin turbo (Quattroporte only) with 530 hp to Euro VI configuration. This translates to 12 percent reduction in emissions, consumption and unchanged performance over the Euro V engines.

The MY 16 petrol engines will also offer Start & Stop system as standard. As for the V6 diesel engines, emissions, consumption, and performance remain unchanged, while the company adopts AdBlue technology for its exhaust system under Euro VI homologation. The naturally aspirated 4.7-liter V8 engines for the GranTurismo and GranCabrio range have been upgraed to Euro VI norms with no changes.

The company also announced that the Quattroporte and Ghibli will receive "Ermenegildo Zegna Edition" outfits that include 100 percent natural fibre Zegna Mulberry silk inserts on seats, door panels, roof lining etc. Contrast stitching and a Maserati emblem on the headrest complete the picture.

In terms of technology, the Quattroporte and Ghibli receive Blind Spot Alert, Rear Cross Path, Power Boot lid with hands-free mode, Siri personal assistant are on offer. Also available are new Harman Kardon audio system as standard for all Quatrroporte and upon request for Ghibli models. On option are Bowers & Wilkins speakers with new Clari-Fi functionality.
