Expected to have a starting price of around RM 130,000 (INR 20 lakhs).

The Mazda CX-3 will be launched in Malaysia in December 2015, reports Paul Tan. The deliveries are said to commence in the middle of the same month, and this information was confirmed to the publication by Bermaz Motor, the local importer and distributor of Mazda cars.

The Mazda CX-3 will be imported as CBUs from Japan until its production begins in Thailand.

The entry-level compact crossover from the Japanese automaker was earlier believed to be priced from around RM 120,000 (INR 18.46 lakhs), but due to the downtrend in forex, the CX-3's pricing is anticipated to be higher. The starting price of the Mazda CX-3 could fall in the range of RM 130,000 to 135,000 (INR 20 lakhs to 20.76 lakhs).

The susceptibility in the price of the CX-3 is because it will be imported from Japan via CBU route, as the production of the compact SUV in Thailand is yet to commence.

The AWD variant of the CX-3 will not be offered in Malaysia, reports Paul Tan.

The sub-CX-5 model will be powered by a 2.0-litre Skyactiv 4-cylinder engine, connected to a 6-speed automatic gearbox that is capable of dishing out 150 hp maximum power and 204 Nm peak torque to the front wheels only. The Honda HR-V competitor will also rival the Mitsubishi ASX and Kia Sportage.
