Will be positioned between the Mazda CX-3 and Mazda CX-5.

The Mazda CX-4, the alleged production version of the Mazda Koeuru concept that was unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA), has been spied completely undisguised in China, courtesy of PopSUV.com.

The Mazda CX-4 is the alleged production version of the Mazda Koeru concept.

As expected from the previous spy shots, the production version seems to be close to the concept on the outside. Up front, the headlamps, upper grille and lower grille, and bumper have been tweaked for easier and cheaper manufacturing. Then there's addition of fog lamps.

At the sides, the car gets production mirrors, the pillars have lost the glossy finish and the wheel arches have been pushed inward. Also, as expected, the production version doesn't ride on 21-inch wheels. The rear-end isn't completely visible, but it certainly seems to be similar to that of the concept. The interior has already been seen completely uncovered in a previous set of spyshots, and is similar to the second generation 2016 Mazda CX-9 that was unveiled at the 2015 LA Auto Show.

2.0-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel should be among the engine options on the Mazda CX-4.

Mazda will use straddle positioning for the CX-4 placing it between the sub-compact Mazda CX-3 and compact Mazda CX-5. As seen in spy shots, it will be a sporty crossover like the Mazda CX-3, but more practical with space offered closer to the Mazda CX-5. Expect powertrains to be the 2.0-litre SKYACTIV-G petrol engine from the CX-5 and the 1.5-liter SKYACTIV-D diesel engine from the CX-3, while transmission choices should include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic.
