Reports say that the Mercedes A-Class sedan will come in a special long-wheelbase guise for China.

The Concept Mercedes A Sedan previews Merc's new styling direction for its compact range of cars, so expect the next generation A-Class hatchback, GLA crossover, CLA 4-door coupe and the upcoming GLB SUV to draw cues from the concept.

The A-Class Sedan will also based on Mercedes-Benz's new MFA2 platform, which will underpin the next generation line of compact Mercedes products listed above.

Unlike the Mercs of today, the A-Class sedan does not feature heavily sculpted creases, but rather a clean and smooth exterior. It could mirror the dimensions of the concept car, which measures 4,570mm in length, 1,870mm in width and 1,462mm in height. Compared to the C-Class, the A-Class sedan is 116 mm shorter, 60 mm wider and 20 mm higher.
