Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe teased - IAB Report

Likely to debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

In the beginning of July, Mercedes-AMG had posted a teaser saying that "something fast is coming", which points to a new product being unveiled at the nearest major motor show, i.e the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, in September.

This was followed by a new batch of teaser images, showing some aspects of the exterior design of a camouflaged test mule.

Comparing recent spyshots of AMG's test mules and the teaser images, it appears that Mercedes-AMG is teasing the upcoming C63 AMG Coupe.

The teaser images mainly focus on the front-end of the pre-production model, which looks largely identical to the C63 sedan. However, the key differences are that the Coupe version will get flaring wheel arches to accommodate a wider track width and the 255/35 R19 tires (245/35 R19 in the sedan version), and side view mirrors that stand on the door (unlike the sedan, where it's integrated near the A-pillar). The rear will get an S63 AMG Coupe-inspired design, complete with a quad exhaust system.

Under the hood, the 2016 Mercedes C63 AMG will certainly pack the 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 (M178) from the C63 sedan. In the sedan version, it's available in two power states: 476 PS & 650 Nm in the base model and 510 PS & 700 Nm in the S version. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed DCT gearbox, which could enable the BMW M4-rival to hit 0-100 km/h in a sub-4 second time.

Along with the C63 AMG Coupe, Mercedes could also unveil the standard C Class Coupe and GLC SUV at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Given that Mercedes India is looking to popularize the AMG brand in India by introducing more products (including the C63 sedan) and AMG Performance Centers, the company could consider bringing the C63 AMG Coupe to rival the BMW M4 (priced from INR 1.25 crores).
