IAB Report - Mercedes-AMG GT interiors revealed, 'Benz' name ditched

Mercedes have confirmed the name of their all-new high-performance flagship, which will indirectly replace the SLS AMG. The new sportscar, which was teased by Mercedes themselves in spy images, will be called the Mercedes-AMG GT. The new sportscar will not get the 'Benz' nameplate surprisingly.

The Mercedes-AMG GT will be revealed by the end of this year.

The first interior images of the AMG GT were also shown. As can be seen from these images, the two-seater sports a snug cockpit with a three-spoke steering wheel. The sportscar gets circular aircon vents which are seen in many Mercedes models these days, while the touchpad controlling the center screen seems to be coming from the new C Class.

Just below the touchpad, the AMG GT gets the short gearlever seen in AMG models. The gearlever is flanked by buttons on either side for adjusting the driving modes, suspension firmness, automatic start-stop, traction control and the engine starter button.

Powering the Mercedes-AMG GT will be a V8 engine.

The AMG GT will be the second car to have been developed completely by Mercedes AMG (the first being the SLS AMG itself). Mercedes confirms that the world premiere of the AMG GT will take place in Autumn this year, with reports claiming a debut at the Paris Motor Show which takes place in October.

Powering the AMG GT will be a V8 engine. When launched, it will compete with the likes of the Porsche 911 and the Jaguar F-Type.
