Next generation Mercedes C Class to spawn a cabriolet variant

But news comes in from America today that the Mercedes management has green lit the development and production of a convertible version of the next generation Mercedes C Class. The current family only comprises of a sedan, coupe and a wagon variant. The convertible version is expected to benefit from the sedan’s petrol and diesel engine lineup.
When the new Mercedes C Class convertible sees the light of the day, it will be the cheapest Merc droptop that you can buy. The current cheapest tri-star convertible you can buy is the Mercedes E-Class convertible, which is a bit more expensive.
Mercedes believe that the cheaper Mercedes C Class convertible would help draw in Gen-Ys looking to purchase into the luxury brand. It will compete against the Audi A5 and the upcoming BMW 4 Series.
Mercedes-Benz is set to add around 11 all-new models by 2020, while refreshing or replacing another 19 models.
