Mercedes CLA 45 AMG leaks ahead of its New York debut
The Mercedes CLA Class took its public bow at the Detroit Auto Show in January and now it is time for its thoroughbred brother from Affalterbach to do the same at New York Motor Show which is set commence on 29th of this month.
The official images of the Mercedes CLA 45 AMG have leaked onto the internet days ahead of its unveil. We already knew how the car would look like since it made its virtual debut in Driveclub PS4 video game.
The CLA 45 AMG is the most affordable Merc sedan to graduate out of marque's famed performance division. If you think it will be a compromise of the AMG brand, think again! The sedan is powered by the world's most powerful 4 cylinder engine in series production, just like its little brother, the A 45 AMG.
The 2.0 litre turbocharged direct injection petrol engine is the smallest that peers at AMG have ever worked on, and boy they delivered! The power output stands at 360 bhp and the torque on offer is a colossal 450 Nm. The engine takes the A 45 AMG from naught to ton in 4.6 seconds and we expect the CLA 45 AMG also to do the sprint in under 5 seconds. The top speed is likely to be electronically restricted to 250 kmph.
The exterior gets aerodynamic front and rear bumpers with carbon fiber trims. The rear bumper gets a diffuser and vents to keep the rear discs cool. The interior too sports carbon fiber trimmings along with AMG Sport steering wheel.
