Mercedes Concept Coupe Vs Mercedes GLE Coupe - Concept Vs Reality

Could be launched in India next year.

The Mercedes Concept Coupe SUV which made its global premiere at the Beijing Motor Show earlier this year met the production line as the GLE Coupe. Here is our comparo of the BMW X6 rival and its concept sibling.

Headlamp detailing and bumper are different while the rest remain pretty much the same.

The Concept Coupe looked the part and much to the appreciation of the fans, Mercedes decided not to mellow down the production model much. Save for the bumper with secondary airdam, the GLE Coupe remains faithful to the Concept Coupe upfront. The new Merc family looks with a prominent grille, sleek almond shaped headlamps and a power bulge on the bonnet render the crossover a brawny appeal.

One has to look hard to point out the differences in profile.

Coming to the side, one would be hard pressed to point out the differences between the concept and the production model. The purposeful stance which is a courtesy of a high ride height combined with a swoopy roofline has been retained albeit, in the interest of rear seat occupants, the roofline is slightly higher in the production model post the B-pillar. Also the concept's ORVMs and door handles have been replaced by conventional elements.

The rear is where the revisions are concentrated.

The rear fascia is where most of the design revisions come from. For starters, the taillight design on the concept is narrow and interconnected whereas the GLE Coupe sports bigger units that are bridged by a thin chrome stripe. Moreover the production model's redesigned bumper gets black plastic and chrome inserts.

The GLE Coupe is based on the GLE (formerly known as M-Class) platform and will world premiere at the NAIAS 2015 next month. The stylish Coupe SUV could arrive in India sometime next year.
