Mercedes GLC Coupe spotted in Germany - Spied
Rivals the BMW X4.
Following the showcase of the Mercedes GLC Coupe concept earlier this year at Shanghai Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz has commenced road testing of the model, on track for its launch next year. The GLC Coupe prototype was photographed testing on the German autobahn near Stuttgart by a WCF reader.
The production version of the BMW X4 rival is expected to closely resemble the concept form, but with production tailpipes and door handles. The camouflaged test mule in these spy shots further suggest, that the showroom version of the GLC Coupe concept will have conventional outside rear view mirrors and less attention-seeking bumpers. There will not be any significant change to the front end of the car, as the GLC Coupe will look almost identical to the standard GLC crossover.
Mechanically, the new model will not have any substantial changes compared to the donor. The powertrain lineup will be inherited, which includes the plug-in hybrid variant.
The standard GLC crossover is available in 220 d, 250 d, and 250 4MATIC (petrol) variants, capable of 170 PS & 400 Nm, 204 PS & 500 Nm, and 211 PS & 350 Nm, respectively, from 2.0-liter petrol and 2.1-liter diesel engines. The GLC 350 e 4MATIC plug-in hybrid model houses a 211 PS petrol engine and a 116 PS electric motor, which has a 34 km pure electric range.
