Mercedes S 400 launched at INR 1.31 crore
Powered by a smaller 3L V6 petrol engine.
Mercedes-Benz India today launched the Mercedes S 400 variant of the Mercedes S-Class saloon in India. The Mercedes S 400 is priced at INR 1.31 crores ex-showroom Hyderabad, and is locally assembled at the company's Chakan plant.
The Mercedes S 400 is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that produces 245 kW (333 hp) at 5,250-6,000 rpm and 480 Nm of torque at 1,600-4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to the 7G-TRONIC PLUS 7-speed automatic transmission.
Noteworthy features of the Mercedes S 400 include ambient lighting with 7 different colours and 5 dimming levels, COMAND infotainment system, 24-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound system and massage seats. Safety systems and driving assistance technologies include 8 airbags, ESP, PRE-SAFE, Dynamic cornering control system, Brake Assist, Adaptive Brake with HOLD Function, ASR Hill Start Assist, 360 Degree Surround View Camera and an Active Park Assist.

For those willing for better performance and luxury, the company also offers the Mercedes-AMG S 63, Mercedes-Maybach S 500 and Mercedes-Maybach S 600. The Mercedes-AMG S 63 saloon sports a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that churns out 430 kW (585 hp) and 900 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the wheels via AMG 7-speed SPEEDSHIFT transmission. The only available AMG variant in the saloon body style can reach from 0-100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds, but like the entire S-Class saloon range, maxes out at 250 km/h.
The Mercedes-Maybach S 500 saloon is powered by a 4.7-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that develops 338 kW (459 hp) and 700 Nm of torque. The Mercedes-Maybach S 600 saloon features a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine good for 390 kW (530 hp) and 830 Nm of torque. With a length, width and height of 5,453 mm, 1,899 mm and 1,498 mm respectively, the Maybach variants are 207 mm longer and 4 mm taller, but have the same width as the regular Mercedes S-Class saloon. The wheelbase has been stretched by 200 mm for more cabin space.
The Maybach variants feature Maybach logo on the C-pillars, Maybach badge on the bootlid, exclusive alloy wheels, extended rear doors, individual rear seats which can recline to more than 43 degrees and have massage function, deployable tables and a 1,540 watt, 24-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound system.
