MG eZS spied again ahead of December 2019 launch
MG Motor India is prepping to launch the eZS in December 2019. The company's second model has been caught behind the camera in a partial camouflaged form.
The MG eZS was also teased on social media very recently. The teaser post was captioned "EVen against the odds" with the motive to promote the usage of EVs during the upcoming 'Odd-Even' rule which is said to jump back in action in Delhi-NCR on 4-15 November 2019.
For the uninitiated, the MG eZS is nothing but the pure electric variant of the MG ZS which is a direct rival of the Hyundai Creta in the international markets. Its electrified variant measures 4,314 mm in length, 1,809 mm in width and 1,620 mm/1,644 mm in height. It has a wheelbase which measures 2,585 mm and a ground clearance of 161 mm. Mechanically, it derives its power from an electric motor which generates 110 kW (150 PS) of maximum power and 350 Nm of peak torque. The energy source is a 44.5 kWh battery pack which returns a range of 335 km (NEDC). This motor rockets the SUV past the 0-50 km/h mark in just 3.1 seconds.
The MG eZS will be assembled locally using the knocked-down kits imported from China. The company has already initiated trials on the assembly line at its Halol plant. It will source the batteries and other major components from CATL (biggest manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries in the world). Furthermore, it has already started working on building an EV supporting infrastructure which involves the installation of fast-charging points across select locations in India.
