New spy image of the MG Hector reveals its 'Hybrid' badge
Last week, we reported that the MG Hector is likely to launch in May-end and retail in a price bracket of INR 13-16 lakh. In a new development, an image of the new model's rear-end that reveals a 'Hybrid' badge has surfaced on TeamBHP.
IAB learns that the petrol variant of the MG Hector, which would be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, will sport a mild-hybrid system. The transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and dual-clutch automatic units. While the new model will be even available with an FCA-sourced 2.0-litre Multijet II motor, the oil-burner will seemingly miss out on an automatic transmission and the fuel-saving tech. The petrol motor will pump out a maximum power of 143 hp and a peak torque of 250 Nm, while the diesel engine will likely offer 173 hp and 350 Nm.
The MG Hector is based on the Baojun 530 and features a unique visual identity owing to a new styling package. Images of an undisguised unit that were taken during its TVC shoot have clearly revealed the new model's two-tier lighting setup, chrome-finished grille and the faux skid plate. The rear of the vehicle seems to have been inspired from that of the Audi Q5 and features a similar hatch gate.
The interior of the MG Hector will be brimming with segment-first gadgets, including a 10.4-inch portrait-style touchscreen infotainment unit that supports an eSIM and offers advanced connectivity options. The equipment list of the new model will even include a 7-inch driver information display, electric parking brake, electric seats, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, and a Harman-sourced Infinity audio system comprising four speakers, four tweeters and a subwoofer.
