IAB reader Clayton Crasto has spotted the MG Hector in Candolim, Goa. The new C-SUV will be officially unveiled at a media event tomorrow.

MG Hector features a very bold front-end comprising a prominent radiator grille, split headlights and ample of chrome garnish.

Series production of the MG Hector at the Halol plant in Gujarat has commenced. Thanks to a high level of localization (75%), one can expect a very competitive pricing right from the launch. It was also revealed previously that MG will be spending over INR 5,000 Crore to ramp up its current annual manufacturing efficiency of 80,000 units to 200,000 units in next five to six years.

The MG Hector is nothing but a reskinned Baojun 530. and twin-pod main lights. The unit seen here packs features like split headlights comprising DRLs that double as turn indicators on the top and twin-pod main lights in the middle section, plenty of chrome garnish, faux skid plates, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and previous generation Audi Q5-like tail lamps, that too with dynamic turn indicators. It seems to be in the range-topping configuration, which has been confirmed to feature a 10.4-inch iSMART Next Gen touchscreen infotainment system with an eSIM, a 360-degree camera, a 7-inch driver information display and a panoramic sunroof.

The MG Hector will offer plenty of connectivity features, which we have detailed in another story previously.

The MG Hector will compete with the likes of Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass.

The MG Hector will be available with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine (145 PS/250 Nm) coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and FCA's 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. Also, there will be an option for a 48-volt mild-hybrid system on selecting the petrol engine, for a nearly 12% lower fuel consumption.

The MG Hector will be launched in June.
