Slated for launch in June this year, the MG Hector is expected to have a starting price of around INR 15 lakh (ex-showroom). This would make it a natural rival to the Tata Harrier and the Jeep Compass, both of which are also locally manufactured C-SUVs. While the rivals in its segment* are already feature-loaded and some offer very unique propositions, the newly introduced MG Hector still manages to surprise with its long list of features, 16 of which are segment-first.

The MG Hector is India's first SUV with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

The MG Hector's series production has already commenced at MG's Halol facility in Gujarat. As per latest reports, the company has set an annual sales target of 18,000 units. To get things in perspective, the Jeep Compass registered sales of 18,287 units last year, which makes for 1,524 average monthly sales. The new-comer Tata Harrier recorded a monthly sales of 2,492 units in March 2019 and 2,075 units in April 2019 which is clearly higher, thanks to its more affordable entry-price.

The MG Hector will mainly compete with the Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier.
