MG India's first SUV spied with new interior [Video]
MG Motor India has started testing near-production prototypes of the Baojun 530, spy shots revealed last month. YouTube user Rutvij Shah has posted spy videos of a test mule he spotted in Ahmedabad, revealing its new centre console design.
The Baojun 530 MG will sell in India has some design differences. The idea is to give the GM-SAIC-Wuling model MG's identity while keeping the sheet metal mostly untouched. In addition to the unique hexagonal grille, one can expect distinctive alloy wheels, unique body colours and bumpers. In Latin America, where the C-SUV was introduced as the all-new Chevrolet Captiva last month, the bumpers were not changed.
The original Baojun 530, though quite large for a C-SUV (4,655 mm x 1,835 mm x 1,760 mm), is strictly a five-seater. In India, the MG-badged version is arriving with five seats, but a three-row version with seven- and eight-seat options is under consideration. As for the interior, previous spy shots have shown reminiscence of the Baojun 560.
Engine options will include a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol unit and a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel unit. The latter will come from FCA, and is powering the Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier. Both engines will comply with the BSVI emission norms.
